Don't see how it could be a take-over. They would lose too many customers. Probably just :-) a huge purchase agreement.

Boy, did something goose JDSU today. Up strong in the last 30 min. too.

Nortel announcement: The rumor I want.

JDSU is constrained by capacity.
Nortel is a systems manufacturer; modules are not strategic.
I would like to see JDSU buy Nortel's optical module business.

This would tie up several loose ends.
It explains how JDSU plans to spend their pile of cash.
It explains the missing part four of the four part strategy.
It will boost JDSU sales immediately, which the market marks up at a rate of 17 times.

JDSU should use their stock and cash to buy capacity as well as buy technology.
