ole 49r,

Those California Gold coins which you asked about are minted by Continental Coin And Jewelry Co. There is a "CC" mint mark just below the bears rear end. They are struck in full, half, quarter, and tenth troy ounce sizes....all of which are exempt from state tax.( 8 1/4% )

The person whom I was asking considerable questions, said that for security reasons that they could not discuss their mint. He did mention that they have a Federal License and were the people who mint the Y2K and many other commemoratives.

BTW...If all those yellow Indian folk are buying gold the way the gentleman in front me was,,,,Then the world is about to run dry! Never before had I seen so many Pandas!
