I thought you were very fair in characterizing the story as a rumor.

If it proves to be true, the story would certainly be newsworthy; although, with his knack for buying beaten down sectors, an entry when oil was at $11 would seem to have been more his speed. Of course, my fondest memories of the Shiek were during my childhood -- I recall that in one of his wrestling matches he bit off the ear of another wrestler. I think after that they banned him from TV.

By the way, at the risk of sounding like I agree with you <g>, VTS and SII are in buy-on-the-dip mode, at least according to my read of the charts. I am also giving GLBL the hairy eyeball. It seems to be making a retest of the recent low. I wasn't sure whether it would.

Slider,
Potential MidEast Y2K problems have been an opinion of mine for some time,

".think about it; he's a Middle Eastern Royal Prince; if "HE" does not have a handle on Middle East Y2K readiness,".

I'm glad to see someone else considering the possibility.

I do have some experience with "similar to Y2K" communications problems in high tech systems, from an operator standpoint. They are generally lower grade than the "fringe excitables" expect but also a lot more persistent.
Have not seen the real thing yet, but neither has anyone else. In any case we don't have long to wait.

Come on Maxwell Smart, I don't care what you heard on your shoe phone, it is only a rumour. He was absolutely buying up Compaq since Labor Day - every desk had the rumour - Made perfect sense - classic Talal bottom purchase. Until he denied it 2 weeks ago.
While in the cone of silence, did you also hear that Buffett was buying Chubb? Also not proven.
Stick to the facts.
