I was worried my previous post sounded a bit too pompous, my apologies. If anyone should be humble about their knowledge it is I (or is that "me"). The trading technical discussions on this thread leave my head spinning like a top. It is not much easier for me on the Last Mile thread, and I am a techno-guy. Maybe someday we will foray into a discussion I know something about and I'll look like an expert.
It is my personal pet peeve that technology gets near god-like status in our society and the so-called liberal studies of Philosophy, History, Literature, etc are ignored. Perhaps I pinned that attitude on you and started punching at a straw man. Again my apologies.
My main point, before I got on the soap box, was that it may be more effective to find the online consumer with a penchant to buy, rather than making a hypnotic ad that convinces them to buy what they do not want. You can certainly put more bells and whistles on a broadband ad, but the real power is mapping buyer to seller. IMHO
