Cutter & Buck Signs Lease for Portland, Oregon Retail Store
Sportswear Manufacturer to Open in Pioneer Place
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 4, 2000--Cutter & Buck (Nasdaq:CBUK - news), a Seattle-based manufacturer of sportswear and business casual apparel, today confirmed -- with the signing of a lease -- that it will open a new retail store in March 2000 in Portland, Oregon's Pioneer Place.

This will be the sixth Cutter & Buck location nationwide. In the last quarter of 1999, the sportswear company opened retail locations in Denver, Orlando and Mission Viejo, California. It also announced a lease for a new store in Desert Passage at the Aladdin in Las Vegas, Nevada, scheduled to open in the summer of 2000.

The company's first retail operation, its Flagship store, opened in Seattle in 1998. Cutter & Buck apparel is recognized as one of the outstanding brands in high-end golf pro shops, resorts and as a valuable resource to specialty retail stores. These new company-owned stores offer consumers the opportunity to see the full line in a truly branded environment.

''We are very excited about our continuing expansion efforts planned for this year,'' said Harvey Jones, Chairman and CEO of Cutter & Buck. ''Cutter & Buck is looking forward to its expanded involvement with the community of Portland. Consumers have responded positively to our new stores and we believe all sales channels are benefiting from the growing awareness of the Cutter & Buck brand. We're encouraged by this synergy and anticipate continued success in our upcoming openings.''

Cutter & Buck's full line of men's and women's clothing, golf shoes and accessories will be available at both the Pioneer Place and Aladdin locations.

In Portland, Cutter & Buck will be located in the new expansion area of Pioneer Place. One of the fastest-growing metropolitan markets in the country, Portland's downtown core is being revitalized in several areas, most notably with the expansion of Pioneer Place, where square footage will double this year with the opening of a pavilion addition to the vertical mall. Cutter & Buck's 3,479-square foot store will open its doors when the expansion is complete in March 2000.

''The national expansion we're undergoing will help define the Cutter & Buck brand as fashion sportswear and business casual apparel, in addition to golf clothing,'' added Jones. ''In the last year, we have added a tennis line, a footwear line and expanded our women's offering. Cutter & Buck has become a multi-category lifestyle brand, and these stores really showcase that.''

Headquartered in Seattle, and known for strong clear colors, natural fiber fabrics, attention to detail, innovative trims and specialized printing and embroidery, Cutter & Buck has developed a collection of high-quality sportswear targeted to the upscale apparel market. The clothing projects an updated American design evocative of a sporting and business casual lifestyle. Cutter & Buck distributes products both domestically and internationally in high-end golf pro shops and resorts, specialty retail stores and its own retail stores.
