I have never heard of the AJIC before now and my hospital's small library does not carry it but it would appear that its editorial board has a policy against pre-publication publicity similar to that which, I believe, exists at better known journals like the NEJM and JAMA. Play by the rules or go shop your article around elsewhere. Having burned the AJIC, they may have trouble finding someone else willing to publish it now.

It matters little because GUMM got what it wanted, national coverage of their product. I doubt that the withdrawal of the article will get on the front page of even one newspaper or make it to the evening news.
