Underlying inflationary pressures in uptrend--ECRI

NEW YORK, Nov 5 (Reuters) - The Economic Cycle Research Institute's (ECRI) monthly U.S. future inflation gauge (FIG) posted its largest two-month advance in 16 years, the
Institute said on Friday.

The October FIG rose to a four-year high of 115.5 from an upwardly revised reading of 113.3 for September. The annualized growth rate also shot upward to 8.6 percent from 5.5 percent, the report said.

``After the biggest two-month advance in the FIG in 16 years, underlying inflationary pressures clearly remain in a cyclical uptrend,' the report said.

The overall rise was driven by faster growth in real estate loans and employment, a rise in the percentage of purchasing
managers reporting slower deliveries, and a drop in the insured unemployment rate to 1.7 percent, a record low.

The report added, however, that there should be ``some moderation in U.S. growth by early next year.'

The future inflation gauge is designed to anticipate cyclical turning points in the rate of inflation.
