andrew:<schwab> but their block trade executions are great. I was trading 40,000 shares at extremely tight limit prices, set via knowing intimately the bid ask stack flows, by carefully studying the level II etc, and received fantastic executions. And when I needed at one point, the day before earnings, to sell 662 VERY deep in the money calls, (even tho there was virtually no outstanding interest where I wanted to be), I got it done by them VERY quickly. On $80 million of trades, I always figured I paid far less commission than appeared on my statements, because my trades were virtually all executed at better than my limits. And, of course, I worked up to this. But I learned from smaller say 2000 share trades, that it did matter whether the broker you were using, was "important" in the stock you were trading in. In spite of their system problems, I think you will benefit by staying with them. I certainly had to learn how to work around the system being down at times. Not too difficult.

Andrew,
Same experience here. I called my local office and they could not get through.

Schwab's commissions are higher than average and I have historically justified it by their high quality service. Now I'm beginning to wonder.

Ironic that they just received an award for customer satisfaction.
