Chuzzlewit,

The implications of this, of course, is either that investors are expecting hypergrowth to extend well beyond four years, or investors are using the wrong metrics

Both. :) The optimism present in the market today is completely foreign to my way of thinking, though I am benefitting from the insane pricing mechanisms people are using. It's as if everyone is subscribing to the tenet that everything that goes up must go up farther and faster.

But back to the specifics you mention.

I don't think Siebel will be "mature" as a $4 billion dollar (sales) company. But you can bet your last and next to last dollar that I'll be looking for that possibility rather than assuming that growth will go on forever.

To get back on topic, your comparison of Dell and Xerox don't apply so strongly for me when I think of Citrix or any of the high-tech companies I invest in that own proprietary, open technologies. That Dell and Xerox don't make them much more vulnerable than those that do.

I wonder how many people we're boring with these discussions that allude to the idea that value is questionable. :)It's always great chatting with you.
