I'm still learning that it's tough to emote certain contexts in emails (and posts) without adding the "happy-face" thingys. As a slow learner, I've got a ways to go before adopting them. Still, I enjoyed the challenge of your post.

I'm waiting for big wearables news but have been frustrated by the content of recent (and not-so-recent) Xybernaut PRs. Everything seems phrased in doubletalk so that it sounds great but doesn't really say anything tangible or proveable.

Based strictly on content the IBM PR was entirely rehashed old news. Add some investor enthusiasm and it means "the world as we know it is entering a new orbit". If you remove the enthusiasm and add the purpose of the post, as stated in that interview with Moynahan, it was timed as defensive posturing, to prevent fallout from the fact that IBM had completely sidestepped Xybernaut in their wearables promo on TV. They didn't even warn Xybernaut.

I suspect the only "alliance" between Xybernaut and IBM is that Xybernaut is purchasing ViaVoice from them. This would be equivalent to the big "Sony alliance", which seems to consist entirely of Xybernaut buying tooling and assembly services from them. Based on the fact that IBM fully ignored Xybernaut's product in their TV promo, I wonder if Big Blue doesn't view Xybernaut as a pest. I hope I'm sounding logical here.

Yesterday's "Significant Patents" PR frustrated me because, if they were so dang significant why didn't they go into some detail on them. It also implies that we need to be told the difference between significant and insignificant patents, and that perhaps Xybernaut owns an arsenal of insignificant patents. Hey Xybernaut, just tell us the purpose of the patents and how they'll help grow the company and let us decide. At least post the patent numbers so we can do our own search on them. Stop tap-dancing (not that there's anything wrong with tap-dancing).

The recent $3.8Mil DynaCorp PR (Sorry for errors, this is from memory now) stated the potential size of an open-ended purchase order, but gave no time-line expectations for fulfillment or even initial purchase indications. GIMME SOME MEAT!!! (please take this in a financial context). I expect that a small fraction of this dollar value will go toward the MA-IV in 1999 and 2000, and the rest (if it happens at all) will be spent in 2001 on the MA-V (great! - more sales projections on a phantom product - this seems to be a Xybernaut specialty).

I wanna know how they pulled $3.8mil out of the hat when they only have an aging product that has demonstrated itself to be insufficient as anything more than a sample product. Computers don't age well. I don't expect to see the MA-IV come to life. My own personal suspicions, as I harshly stated in a revelation earlier, is that they saw a cash-crunch on the near horizon and needed some volume to sell into. At least this is the picture they are painting for me. Hopefully, the MA-V will be all-the-better for it.

The rehashed XYBR-IBM PR initially got my hopes up, too, but I'm now wondering if I'm just suffering through the realization that it's not likely to happen anytime soon.
