Lanier Names Cantrell Chairman and CEO

Promotion Follows Announcement Of Lanier Worldwide's Spin-Off From Harris Corporation

ATLANTA, Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Lanier Worldwide (NYSE: LR - news) today announced that Wesley E. Cantrell, formerly President and CEO, will now serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO. The promotion comes on the heels of Lanier's recent spin-off from Harris Corporation.

``After more than four decades with Lanier, I am now more energized than ever to help the company compete in the document management solutions marketplace,' Cantrell said. ``I welcome the challenge of operating as a publicly owned organization and building on our rich history of innovation and profitable growth.'

Cantrell joined Lanier as a field engineer in the Customer Service department in the early 1950s. After holding a variety of sales positions within the company, he became District Manager for the Lanier office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1962. Four years later he became Vice President and Sales Manager for dictating machine products.

In 1972, Cantrell was promoted to Executive Vice President and National Sales Manager for dictation products and 3M copier products, including the International Division. Two years later he was elected to the Board of Directors of Oxford Industries, Lanier's parent company at the time, and was named President of Lanier Business Products in April 1977.

Cantrell held this position when Harris Corporation acquired Lanier in 1983, and became President and CEO of Harris/3M Document Products, the Harris/3M joint venture. In 1989, he was named President and CEO of Lanier Worldwide and elected an officer of Harris Corporation.

Today, Cantrell serves on the Board of Directors of First Union National Bank of Georgia in Atlanta, Ann Taylor Stores and EDI Limited.
