But you can't a PC without Windows. PC = windows OS. And you can't get Windows without IE.
And Mac was blackmailed by MS. Mac comes with Ms inside. Apple had no choice.

And you can't get venture capital if they think MS will compete (prey) upon you.

MD Bryant: All excellent points that the DOJ and the judge and the rest of the whiners of the world chose to ignore in this sham of a trial. Gates was vilified as the nearest thing to Hitler and the press ran with it. People like Art cast themselves in the victimized category and feel very safe their as they cheer the DOJ from the sidelines.

The irony of the is whole thing is that MSFT seeing the possibility of being branded a monopoly bailed MSFT out with a 150,000,000 cash infusion (incidentally a great investment so far) and promised to support AAPL with Office for Mac. It certainly was an arms length quid pro quo to extract the IE concession from Mac which turns out to be no concession at all as IE 5.0 is miles ahead of the present NSCP browser.

I wish everyone had your commonsense but that is probably because I have been making this argument on this thread for months. Keep up the great posts.

Windows is the most popular because Apple and IBM failed to capitalize on their vision - or they had lack of a vision.

But that doesn't matter. It's one of the fundamental aspects of this case, so it bears repeating: How Microsoft arrived at its monopoly power is not at issue in this case. One can grant, for the sake of argument, that the monopoly power was attained through wholly legal means. One can even grant that the power was handed to them on a platter by IBM, Apple and others. That's not what this case is all about.

It is about what they did with that power once it had been achieved.
