out of all those things you listed. which does YHOO make a PROFIT on???? NONE! their profitability (what little there has been) comes from ad banners and extraordinary items such as investment gains. I can throw up a site w/ news, weather, sports, chatrooms, e-mail, even free movies.... but that doesn't make me a powerhouse. it makes a common fool who opens up a store and gives away the merchandise for free and claims "we'll make money some day. The key is volume and plenty of customers are pouring into our store" then somebody asks "well, how are you going to make anymoney if the customers never pay for anything?" the business owner responds: "quick, look over there, a giant dragon beast... run for you lives!!" (BG) i am reminded of a Saturday NIght Live skit that was a commercial for a bank that ONLY made change. They broke up 10's, 50's, 100's, you name it and didn't charg for it. They said "many ask how we make money doing this... we answer: VOLUME" LOL!! it was hysterical becuase it was silly. That was 10 yrs ago when that aired. Today, the hysteria is actually in the real world!!! amazing isn't it!!! they could do the same commercial today: a co gives you free news, web search, e-mail, you name it.... "when asked how we make money doing this, we answer TRAFFIC!! or hits as we call them." LOL!! except Wall Street isn't laughing, they're slurping it up.

i seriously doubt YHOO or AMZN are the next GE. and i doubt AMZN will even be around in 3 or 4 yrs. -ng-

the key is PROFITABILITY. so far i have seen nothing out of any web company that says they will dominate anything. Whoever it is that comes up w/ the business plan to dominate the web has not emerged yet, imo.
