Elmer, re:<One cannot purchase a "naked" put> This is standard terminology for a put purchased without the simulataneous purchase of the underlying stock, which is referred to as a "covered put." My IRA agreement, in fact, stipulates that "covered puts" may be purchased, but "naked puts" may not be purchased.
