Frank, This post is actually coauthored by me and Jill although it's under the Poet moniker. Although this post is addressed to you, it is also an open entreaty to every participant on this thread. Yesterday both Jill and I were harshly reprimanded by you via PM. Because of a post I made to Straight Life, (http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=11831566)you Pmed me with a message that, unless I learned to behave myself on the G&K, I should go back to lurking. At the same time, you PMed Jill, who had posted me the following ("Go for it, Poet! I admit the thread has been a bit like an Academy Awards ceremony this week, but it has been a nice contrast to the MSFT thread." siliconinvestor.com. Jill was told that you were deeply disappointed in her and that you had knighted her Sir Artemis in order to uphold reasonable debate on the thread. Jill is on the phone with me now and says "The best investing decision I ever made in my life was to join SI last February. I have gained a huge amount of insight and investing savvy on threads such as the old Dell thread, Microsoft, Qualcomm, and of course, the stellar G&K. I have made friends who have helped guide my investment decisions and I can't thank them enough. If, Frank, you really wish to hold me to such "strict" standards of decorum, I will probably go into permanent lurk mode myself. You have said by PM that you will let the thread decide about this matter." Now I'll turn to my own comments. I responded bluntly to a post from Straight Life, in which he complained about "testimonials". I received six public replies to my post,four from males and all positive. I signed off with the words "Poet, kicking ass", which you may have found offensive but which is my generation's way of saying "making a strong point". You chose to flame Lynn last night for having responded positively to my post. I am disappointed that you directed your public anger at her rather than directly at me. Although both Jill and I are happy to see your apology to her, it contains another backhanded and indirect remark about my post. I believe your time would be better spent doing research on G&K candidates than in policing the behavior of thread members here and on other threads. I see that you attempted to do just this on the QCOM thread last night: Message 11834753 And were politely but firmly rebuffed: Message 11834837 I agree with Mr. Hudson that "A too agressive referree can ruin the game". I see great benefit in allowing people the dignity of settling their own disputes, Straight Life and myself being an example on this thread. And finally, I do not wish the major point of my post to be lost: I stated that I received a number of PM's in response to my personal story from women who only lurk this thread. I encouraged them (and encourage male lurkers as well) to join us here on this public forum. If you wish this thread to be limited to a recitation of pure facts about Gorilla stocks, perhaps your posts about your personal life should be kept to PM's: Message 11834286 This way, you are setting an example based on your own behavior rather than acting as thread cop (or thread uncle).
