<<<<Well Bob I suggest you replace your Win95 PC with a suitable thin client if all you really need is a subfunctional browser and email. However if you actually have to be productive with your desktop then you may want to wait for 5 years while thin client tries to catch up.>>>> A. I will continue to use WIN98 on my desktop until something better comes along at a cheaper price. Until now, MSFT has not allowed that to happen. Please refer to the FOF released this past Friday for an unbiased opinion on this subject. B. I will not be using MSFT software on my internet cell phone, TV, car computer, supply chain management, ERP, CRM anytime soon. MSFT does not compete well in these markets because of its inferior products. At the end of the day, it is the product that sells. C. In five years the PC will be a consumer device. It is projected that by 2003 B2B internet is 10X's bigger than B2C internet. Y2K is the holdup right now. The thin client architecture will dominate the B2B within 5 years. Where does MSFT fit in? I cannot see MSFT's market position in the B2B market world economy. Client/Server=no. MSFT cannot bully its way in this space because the DOJ has saved the consumer from a growth addicted, egotistical, bully company who conducted illegal business practices to stifle competition thereby eliminating superior products from coming to market (i.e., hurting the consumer). Is this really that difficult to comprehend? Can MSFT make this transition to the internet to catch up with the competition is a good question. W2K=not. It will be interesting to see. I doubt they will enjoy the monopolistic type of marketshare in future markets as they do in the PC desktop thus reducing the value of the company. Thus a devaluation of their stock price. Have a nice evening, Bob.
