Jim, <Reality check Ten, I did not mention AMD once in my reply.>

My original comment which you responded to related to AMD. How can you fault me for bringing up AMD again?

<Reality Check #2. AMD can't make any more than 1.4 Million Athlons this quarter and probably not many more than 1.2M. Hardly a dent in Intel.>

Though I've been flamed before for saying this, I still think many people on the AMD thread think AMD's sole purpose of being is to hurt Intel. Take a look at one of those people who said this:

All I can say about the CPU wars is that I will always buy AMD processors and never Intel...AMD is the ONLY reason why CPU prices have declined and computers are accordingly more affordable.

This guy is willing to buy a processor solely on a religious-like conviction, even if that processor happens to be inferior. I feel a few others on that thread are also willing to buy a stock solely on similar convictions, even if that stock consistently underperforms.

<You keep saying that Coppermine production and yields are great. OK, all I would like to know is in who's hot little hands are the Coppermines right now?>

Mine, had I ordered a Gateway Pentium III 700 MHz system last week from the very enthusiastic salesman on the other end of the phone line. Other Tier 1 guys also have 700 MHz systems available. I still can't explain the lack of availability of Coppermine on Pricewatch, but I'm not going to get into a shouting match with someone who is obviously turning rather pro-AMD these days.
