Sudan: Work In The Petroleum Project Will Not Be Affected By What Is Being Said About Talisman Company

Khartoum, Nov. 8 (SUNA)- Energy and Mining Minister, Dr Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz,
on Monday underlined that questions being raised about the Canadian Talisman
Company's work in the Sudan were politically motivated and they would not
affect the petroleum work or the company's activities.

In press statements, the minister pointed out that the company was
perfectly carrying out its tasks along with its partners in the Sudanese
petroleum project, saying the project has begun yielding fruits more quickly
than expected and that this was answer to those who thought the project
would never be completed and that investors would never reap material
benefits.

He said a number of delegations have visited the Sudan, touring a number of
villages and towns, and returned to their countries convinced about the
situation in the Sudan, adding that Sudan would soon receive a delegation
from Canada and that it would welcome this Canadian delegation because Sudan
has nothing to hide.

The Minister said Sudan welcomes companies investing in the country,
underlining that allegations circulated about the Sudan in the
ill-intentioned media failed in reflecting reality in the Sudan and its
people.
