"In what way has MSFT been crushed by the DOJ."

Easy...While MSFT will spend alot of money and time in the courtroom, AOL will busy growing and innovating...MSFT, meanwhile is dead in its tracks, until this DOJ farce comes to a close many many yrs from now...AOL will continue scooping up companies here and there, innovating and growing, meanwhile, MSFT will have to keep looking around, making sure the DOJ approves of ANYTHING they do...Not to mention all the worries MSFT stockholders will now have over whether MSFT will have to compensate all the companies they illegally screwed over in order to get to the top...MSFT does NOT have the growth potential that AOL has...this is not speculation, it's merely a fact that MSFT has grown about as much as it could, but now there's very little more room for growth with this DOJ cloud hanging over their heads.
