Randal,

Hmmm. Seems to me I've heard of a wireless carrier offering unlimited wireless access for around $30/month. Let's see...who was that?

Oh, yea, Leap Wireless

Do you have a link to it? Where do they offer this service? Is it circuit switched or packet switched?

AT&T offers all you can eat wireless data for somewhere between $20 and $30, but I think the speed is limited to 14.4kbs. And according to the technical experts here it gets a lot slower than that during peak times.

Until the major CDMA carriers (Sprint, Bell Atlantic) offer packet switched wireless data, the prices will stay very high.

And since Bell Atlantic followed Sprint and just introduced circuit switched data, the affordable wireless data access is still years away.

What do I base it on? If the packet switched data was "around the corner", Bell Atlantic and Sprint would not bother introducing circuit switched wireless data service now.
