Art... That would be unfortunate (If MSFT) chose not to settle quickly and reasonably. I've been told that there are cases in Japan and Europe at some stage of pursuit by the authorities there. Seems to me, if the findings have been made here, but the case is ongoing, prosecutors there will be emboldened also. And, imho, they would be much more likely to pursue purely nationalistic "solutions".
All of that would be unfortunate; I've considered MSFT a great national asset, and my major interest was that they be convinced to follow the Rule of Law. An even playing field makes it much more lucrative to search out the true innovators for possible investment. If we are sure, ahead of time, that MSFT will crush them to avoid competing, we either have to invest in MSFT or go see how the oil drillers are doing...
Given MSFT history on their complete disregard for the view of ANYONE, in ANY position who disagrees with them, unfortunately, you may be right, and the Judge will end up having to wield the big club. What a shame... nothing like a Lose/Win game instead of a Win/Win game we COULD have with just a modest element of decency on MSFT's part.
