johnd: I have long touted MSFT's enormous investment portfolio but the market doesn't agree with my or even your assessment of this little facet of MSFT. The market also ignores the way SQL7.0 is gaining in the enterprise market and what the explosive prospects are for the year 2000 with the introduction of W2K. MSFT as they said at today's annual meeting, is very well positioned and prepared for a network-centric world of software. MSFT may be the cheapest stock around these days if I didn't represent 40% of my portfolio I would be a buyer. But even Bill Gates doesn't have all his $ tied up in MSFT. JFD

I guess EXPE means that we should value the spell checker in Word at about what, say, 20 Billion? :)))
