mr. mark and PMS Witch, I received Partition Magic V4.0
this morning. PW, I thank you for recommending PM. I already
recaptured almost 1GB that was not part of any of my two
partitions, hence wasted. Now it's part of the C: drive.
The now bigger C: drive is being defragged as we speak [on my other PC]. Recapturing the unused space was as easy as sliding a border with the mouse and clicking a few times. And all without the need to back up first. [The manual recommends backing up anyway, in case of power failure etc. But I'm reckless. :)]

Price: a week ago PM5 was at Fry's for $45+tax [after
rebate]. I bid for PM4 on Amazon and paid $24.95 including
shipping. Looks like PM4 is a year old. I don't know what
PM5 has that PM4 hasn't. Included with PM4 is 'BootMagic'
which lets you choose which partition you want to boot
from. You could have Windows 98 on one partition and Linux on another.

mm,

I've had good luck with buy.com

Their prices are always competitive and when they run specials they are hard to beat. You might want to check their site out on a weekend...they run a free shipping deal about one weekend a month.
