<I still wants to hold some of my AMD till I retire;) What do you think?>

Too early to tell if AMD is a good long term investment. Right now whether one likes it or not, AMD is a one trick Pony. Athlon is super and will be a killer chip for the bottom line for the next year. But, AMD needs to keep up with the execution.

One big thing I will be watching is IA-64 vs. AA-64. Whoever wins that will have a good long term future. I think Intel screwed up big time with Merced aand think AMD's chances are better than 50/50 - if they can execute. But, I think AMD has a lot to prove.

<Enjoy the moment and have a wonderful hignt.>
Thank you and same with you.

Chuck

Just for fun. A piece from TheStreet.com:

Advanced Micro Devices Soars After Forecasting Strong Fourth-Quarter Sales
By Kevin Max

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD:NYSE), the No. 2 chip maker, surprised Wall Street on Thursday by forecasting strong sales for the fourth quarter and indicating that the company might break even.

......

Does this raise concern with neighboring Intel? Joseph thinks not. "We think Intel and AMD can live together," Joseph said. "AMD is targeting Intel with the Athlon chip. Intel would have to cut prices deeply on the Pentium III, which I don't think they'll do."

Intel's market capitalization is 78 times that of AMD and has a history of aggressive acquisitions to take market share. AMD has about 10% of the microprocessor market.

Does that mean INTC gonna acquire AMD? ;-)) No, thanks.
