Hi guys, been at a course for 3 days. I saw the 1-7/8 pop yesterday with no explanation in the LA Times but had no clue till just now that AMD had exploded up so drastically today. BTW, I read the Reuters story and think breakeven is closer to 800M than 850M, which would explain the profit scenario a little better.

Kash - Re: "What is your exit price."

It was around $29 - $33.

However, since AMD blasted UPWARDS by $5+ today, my guess is that everybody will be INFLATING their expectations (reading all the posts here tonight, this has ALREADY HAPPENED) for Q4 - and ALL of Year 2000.

So my guess is that the short-memory AMD lovers will push this stock up to astronomical levels through early January, in anticipation of the "blow-out" Q4.

This level could be quite high - so I won't bother to predict it - I'll just wait until the first or second week of January and watch the stock price climb - right up to the earnings announcement date - and make a decision then.

Re: "Is this a quick trade for a day or so or do you plan on holding for a while."

I will hold at least until early January - as per above.

Re: "Congratulations on your AMD profits and quick finger trading."

Thanks - I got REAL lucky - and placed a "MARKET" order at around 9:32 (PST) time as soon as I saw the headlines from the Analysts Call. I normally never place market orders, but when I found out the stock was halted at precisely that moment, I went for it. I guess I got my order in near the "top".

I just got lucky this time.
