I think DELL has been iPaqued by COMPAQ.

Anyway, I have heard Capellas twice now and I know his script almost as well as I knew EP's.

He uses the word "cool stuff" a lot and apears to be consciously making it his catchphrase.

He talks rapidly. He is mentally agile. He makes lots of self-deprecating remark about COMPAQ and its management. He does not attack competitors. He tries to present COMPAQ as another IBM. He is very cautious about making performance predictions.

His style is a cross between a guru-trainer, a futurologist or Madison Avenue advertising type.

He is not completely clear in what he says - uses too much jargon. He is not wholly convincing because there is nothing in what he says or what he has done to convince a critical listener that the plan has been fully formed or fully expounded or that he can execute it. Indeed, his fluency makes one cautious about whether he is a CEO or a salesman.

If you want to judge for yourself go to http;//www.compaq.com and download the presentation he made in NY the other day.
