SB,

I think AMSC is THE pure play in superconductor technology. IMG is, in my view, a supplier of a diversified array of products involving magnetic components. (This does not mean IMG is a bad investment, only quite different than AMSC.) I owned ISCO but bailed when they did the death-spiral convertible.

Kyosera, and others, in Japan as well as some large US firms--GE I believe is one--have superconductor programs. These firms are so large that the s/c programs have little impact on the company and tend to get buried so it is hard to know what they are doing. I do know that AMSC is making great progress.

AMSC has a section in it's SEC filings on competition which is worth reading.

Have you been able to do any analysis of who holds patents in this area?

Regards,

Walter
