I lost an ole freind today, Earl Felkins went to sleep... I am his 1st Grandson, he was an Orphan. He taught me how to swim and he taught me how to fish. He was honest and simple. I was thinking about the special times & have to end his presence with a fishing story. My parents sent me to be with him in the summer, he was a rice farmer. The rains where heavy & the fields were full. He had to break the levies so the water would flow properly. He threw me in his pickup with shovels in the back and worked the fields so they would irigate. We came to a flooded road and I didn't think he would pass. But he eased on & with his John Deere boots he stopped half way through the flood & got out of the truck. He wodled back behind the truck about 50 yards reached into the water and raised a 20 lb snapping turtle into the air with an outstreched arm. Grandpa Keith
