Charley -- Absolutely the wittiest assessment of Rand I have ever read! You have almost convinced me to give her another try, even if only out of curiosity. My only quibble: Her stark tone and didactic style can be explained because as a young girl she stood on her parent's balcony in Moscow and watched the Bolsheviks wreak their havoc. A lot of people watched the Bolsheviks wreak their havoc -- Pasternak, among others. But give me Dr. Zhivago any day! Joan
