Hello Ron. Your comment " It is flawed thinking, Doug. And that is probably why you have latched onto FOA's words so readily. There is no major need for "digital gold" in a world where financial transactions take place at the speed of light (or close to it). I sell dollars for yen in my account and that exchange is processed based upon the market value of both currencies at that particular time. Gold is not involved, the market determines the price instaneously. I don't have to ship the physical currency overseas or to another bank.. nothing."

Ron a few days ago I posted an article out of the Pentagon about the General in charge of the war in Kosovo complaining because the USA did not use their ability to electronically destroy the Yugoslav
economy. He said that the US could have entered their central bank
the presidents personal bank accounts or any number of things to disrupt their their their ability to wage war. ( fight back )
If the US has this hacking ability what other countries or just individuals can do the same and do you have any concerns about this.
I can't help thinking that the more we depend on electronic banking
the sooner some hacker person will figure out how to destroy it all.
Don't you think it is even more important to have gold backing now than it was 50 years ago
Thanks
Lorne
