RESEARCH ALERT - PaineWebber raises AMD
NEW YORK, Nov 12 (Reuters) - PaineWebber said it raised its price target for Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NYSE:AMD - news) on Friday to $25 a share from $16 a share.

The company told an analysts' meeting Thursday that it expected a break-even fourth quarter, against consensus estimates of a loss of 36 cents a share, as compiled by First Call/Thomson Financial.

-- PaineWebber revised fourth quarter revenue estimate to $900 million from $700 million on better-than-expected outlook.

-- Raised fourth quarter EPS estimate of a 54 cent loss to a slight profit of 2 cents.

-- Raised 2000 earnings estimate to 80 cents to $1.00 a share, from its previous estimate of 40 cents.

-- Shares were trading at 25-11/15, down 2-5/16, in early Nasdaq trading.

Ted,

AMD is down, but I see it as a necessary pull back that may eventually firm AMD price in high twenties. Now it's at 26 1/8. What are your thoughts on it.
