133,000 refers to AT&T@Home subscribers. So 1 million AT&T@Home subscribers by next year is a huge gain.

In the last ATHM CC, ATHM praised AT&T for committing to increasing their subscriber growth rate. As you may recall AT&T had to suspend installations for several months and rebate existing customer's monthly fees for a period of 5 months in the Bay Area because of connectivity problems.

Perhaps AT&T is blaming @HOME for these problems.

<How old is this article if the author states that ATHM has 133,00 subscribers? The entire article is confused and should be dismissed as hearsay.>

It said that "T" had 133,000 subs now. That is probably true. 1 million "T" subs by the end of the year would be wonderful IMO.

>> It does not make sense to bad mouth a company right before you sell a major stake in it.

Why not? T is trying to create a dynamic tension here by playing a sleight-of-identity. This ambiguity is a useful bargaining tool in their relationships with franchising and regulatory agencies.

Standard whipping boy move.
