I too agree, Mike. I've been around long enough to have seen many very strong runs. It began long before me. Sears changed the way people bought things when it published a catalog. RCA had one. IBM had one. Litton, Brunswick,... there are lots of these, some would have fit the GG, many did not. Do any of those asking this question (never again) wonder what people who bought MSFT in 1986 were thinking in 1987? Or in 1991 after CSCO in 90. Or Dell, Or Intel. This is the tech sector folks. It's not going to go away. Get used to it. RTFM and hang around here, and do as Merlin demands....he's right about the research and the dd, even if he isn't funny enough to tickle UF.

Mike, you Iomega fool! ;-)

Great post. Very Foolish. Yes, we will see other wonderful opportunities in our investing lives. There have been many and will be many more in spite of the natural ups and downs of the markets. I think that I would be met with no resistance if I said we are certainly in an up at the moment. A powerful, powerful up. I'm not just talking Qualcomm, but a lot of stocks and sectors.

Plenty of euphoria to go around, but I would add to Mike's wisdom that it is the research and taking the time to find the nice chestnuts to invest your money that will create the wonderful opportunities. Especially in times when things are not so 'up' as they are now. There will be plenty of those times as we all know.

Although a lot of focus has been directed towards Qualcomm, I would hasten to add that other stocks like Oracle, Cisco, Siebel and even Godzilla's like AOL, DoubleClick and Yahoo! have had returns year to date that would make any GG investor weap with tears of joy.

Yes, there are opportunities out there and we will see more in our lives.

BB

Mike, Good post. I suppose we should also add that we will undoubtedly go through a period when we can do nothing right! Just last year, we saw a general market drop of 25%, and some sectors were down by a lot more than that. We should all be prepared for our beloved Q to correct. But, don't worry. It will come back.

Best,
JS
