Know your democrats...

Dan Flynn, executive director of Accuracy in Academia, says colleges and universities like to talk about diversity. But their notion of diversity in the faculty lounges is "where everyone should look like the United Nations but think like a San Francisco coffee house." That is, they're willing to hire a bunch of people who look different. They may come from different backgrounds and be different colors and genders. But their mentality -- their ideology -- is the same. Surveys of the partisan political affiliations of professors at major universities show that Democrats outnumber Republicans by margins as high as 31 to 1. Flynn commented about the bias in higher education: "That's not diversity at all. That's waging war on real diversity -- intellectual diversity."

Dan made his remarks on a panel that examined the rotting roots of our culture and the educational system. The panel was part of a day-long conference to commemorate Accuracy in Media's 30th anniversary. This panel and one other was videotaped by C-SPAN for broadcast at a later date. So check C-SPAN listings for the date and time of the broadcast.

The ideological bias is reflected in general courses as well as those for students pursuing a journalism degree. Dan mentioned courses in "queer media" and "race, gender and the media." At Columbia's prestigious School of Journalism, students learn about sexual orientation and the media. Outside of the journalism departments, the situation is equally bleak. At Harvard and Columbia, courses are offered bearing titles like "Queer Acts." The course description says, "Drag will be encouraged but not required." Flynn commented, "Perhaps we should be thankful for that."

On college campuses, there is an emerging field known as "Gay and Lesbian Studies." A textbook for students in this field describes child molesters, identified merely as "boy-lovers," as being unfairly stigmatized. The feminist author, who teaches at a major university, attacks the FBI and postal inspectors for investigating and prosecuting pedophiles, who, she says, should have their civil liberties protected. She calls pedophiles a "community of men who love under-age youth" and she describes child molesting as a "cross-generational encounter." She also wants to protect those who engage in sado-masochism -- that is, inflicting pain for sexual pleasure -- and transsexuality. She compares opponents of child molesters to racists.

"It might be funny if no one was listening to this," commented Dan Flynn. "But this essay is required reading in a course at Harvard and other lesser known schools that try to play follow the leader with some of the elite campuses around the country."

The latest growing fad is animal rights. Peter Singer, who has been hired as a professor at Princeton, believes in human rights for some animals but no human rights for some humans. He terms the use of animals for human purposes to be "speciesist" - a form of racism toward animals. Singer believes it's a form of discrimination to eat a hamburger, but that parents should be able to have their newborn killed because it's not really human. In protest of Singer's views, Steve Forbes has cut off Princeton from any more contributions. Others should follow his lead.

Ish, ROTFL!!! I'll have to tell my husband that one. He'll get a kick out of it.:o))

I'd rather get shot by an angry husband when I'm 95 than to have cardiac problems now.

I'm also glad to know that State Farm's CEO is a really a nice guy.

State Farm is not the wonderful friendly Neighborhood Insurance Company they are portrayed..I have a compression fracture of a lower vertebrae. (L5) from an accident. I have a fully loaded
Policy..300/300 and 100/200 uninsured motorist.plus all the other collision etc..I can no longer do the Aerobics...Yoga..and the gymnastics I did before.or even walk any distance as I did before..I sat out the year following..this accident..to heal..I chose a Chiropractor..since the Medical profession let me walk around with this injury for 5 days..They cat scanned my head..XRayed my neck...when I kept complained of pains in the groin region???? Only the Chiropractor had the common sense to XRay the entire spine..I will always be in danger of paralysis if I ever have another accident..That is the tragedy of this type of injury..

I was hit by a young lady who had PIP insurance. She ran a Red light at the corner of Kennedy and Willow..with two Cruisers parked on the corner watching..(Colleen will know where this is)..Now comes the real tragedy..My car was totaled' I got low book value..;-( State farm has collected $15,000 from the Drivers PIP..They have paid out $8,000 to my Chiropractor..I had to resort to Legal means to get this $...Now they want me to settle for $10,000.when I have uninsured motorist on myself for $100,000 ??????

State Farm has been sued for using generic auto parts..I know about that..they shredded documents and they lost the case to the tune of $6.5 Billion...Now I see their own Agents have launched a suit against them for not paying claims..They will lose this case too..They sure should be paying their Actuaries well...;-( They just formed a separate Corp in Florida..why???

I have carried their Insurance for 12 years...But I will go with an
agency in R.I. that is much cheaper and pays when they should..
and I will hook onto State Farms Legal cases..on both issues..Insurance is a nasty business..I know that they are up against a lot of fraudulent claims..but my case is not one of these and should not be handled as such..would you not agree...????????
