The following quote, from the link in your post, is why this stock still has so much upside potential:

"It's real, it has potential, it's in developmental stage -- the whole market is developing -- and we'll see where it goes," said Baluta. "I'm not building anything into my model for Corel from the Linux initiatives. But we're certainly paying attention to see what develops."

Next week, especially Tuesday when Cowpland speaks, should be very exciting. At least one mutual fund manager feels the same way:

"As long as they don't actually burst into flames during the presentation, the stock will go up," said Duncan Stewart, fund manager at Tera Capital Corp. in Toronto.

As an aside, I've been following this company here on SI on and off for several years. I remember well the long painful slide from the 20's to 10 and below, when I stopped watching. The thread was a lot busier then. Where did everybody go? To the Yahoo board perhaps?

Corel® LINUX® OS Lands On The Desktop Today
...International Data Corporation (IDC) has projected that the entire Linux operating environment market (client and server) will grow at over 25% Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) through 2003. IDC's Linux forecast notes that all other Client Operating Environments (COE) combined are projected to grow at 10% CAGR during the same forecast period. (Linux Operating Overview, IDC # 18662, March 1999.)

The momentum for Linux has been building in the last few years, and we fully expected some vendor to take up the challenge of Linux as a complete desktop solution. The time is now and that vendor is Corel, said Dan Kusnetzky, IDC program director, operating environments and serverware. IDC believes that Corel LINUX OS will be an attractive option for IT organizations supporting task oriented workers or knowledge workers. IDC recognizes this effort by Corel as a first step in a multi-step process leading to a viable general purpose Linux desktop market....
