Matt,

Once again, have to wonder how the west coast issue is affecting this stuff. PAT is in the middle of the Silicon Valley and I've read a ton of complaints from folks living there this week. I had 1-2 down hours Monday morning and no problems since. Denver is generally a good town for connectivity (although TCI and USW destroyed the chances of us getting cable net for the next 5-7 years).

When I was on vacation in SF earlier this year, I was astounded how poor the Earthlink connections were. They are located out there. As someone noted, the bay area has some major issues with competing routing, etc.

May be apples and oranges for those of us out here in the "boonies".

Alan

>. I have two real time quote packages (not to mention the "free ones" you get with the brokers. I have three broker accounts. I have two computers with everything on each. I have three ISP's (all working at once for maximum bandwidth and least net congestion). I have cell phone and real phone. I have satellite and cable. I have UPS's on my systems in case of power outages (and one computer is a notebook so it has it's own battery (in case the UPS fails). - MJ

Just your "average" traders setup, right? :)

You do realize that you have more capital tied up in your setup that most people have in their accounts, do you not? But I am sure your reply will be something along the lines of, "IF you can't afford this type setup, you should not be trading."

I disagree - this industry has held itself out to be providing what one needs to daytrade, timly data - - all I ask is that it provide what it say it will, nothing more, nothing less. All the other "bells and . . . " are just nice to have items but the DATA MUST BE PROVIDED, CORRECTLY.

>, try to get the system optimized. I will bet you big money that therein lies your problem. Not that you don't have a good system, but that some little configuration issue is screwing up a perfectly good system

This I totally disagree with, and if you are as you say you are, you know better.

IT DOES NOT MATTER - what telephone line problems I have, what ISP problems I have, what gateway or backbone problems I have, how my computer is set up - NOTHING - when I have displayed on my screen a closing figure that IS WRONG, it is NOT A CONFIGURATION PROBLEM, PERIOD!

Yes, telephone lines, ISP, gateways, backbones will markedly affect speed but once the data is here, if it is wrong it was sent wrong or something in their program screwed it up!

I don't know why some have problems and others don't. I don't understand why all don't have the same problems. I assume it is because of the many different servers Qcharts uses - a good thing is some way, a nightmare in others.

If it is delayed data then it can be a number of different peoples fault BUT IT IT IS FLAT WRONG DATA it comes from Qcharts feed or from the data they are receiving - not from some "configuration problem" within my system.

And I think the frustration you see here comes more from Qcharts seeming lack of caring about the problems - although that couldn't be true, surely they understand the damage and, therefore, the money they are or are going to lose if they don't get these problems solved.

To be honest, I don't know if they have improved in their customer service or not because I flat quit even making an attempt to get help from them. Time after time after time of listening to 10 minutes of music to then get switched to voice mail and leave a message only to NEVER get a reply - not once! Too many emails sent and NEVER replied too. Too many questions asked here and not answered. And yes, I know about the other systems they use - no answers there, either.

You will notice my comment a couple of days ago about Mr. G. once again coming up on this board and only answering the questions he wants too and not the ones that have been asked. This is normal for them, not the unusual. And it is damn poor customer service, period.

How many here use CyberX or Cybertrader? The have built into the software to where I can ask questions of them - right in the software. The times I have used this I normally get an answer back within no more that a minute or two.

Do you know how cost effective this type system is to a company? Answering customer service via phone is the least cost efficent manner in terms of both time and effectiveness there is. Instead of having your CS rep getting tied up with one persons 5 minute call, he/she can answer 10 peoples problems in the same time period - and of most important, YOUR CUSTOMERS FEEL LIKE SOMEONE IS THERE AND THEY REALLY DO CARE ABOUT THEIR PROBLEM when they need them.

Do you realize how much hate and discontent a system like this would solve for Qcharts? I have suggested - several times - to Mr. G. that Qcharts consider something like this but he does not even offer a reply.

I am happy that everything is running just great for you but for a great number of people thing are not so great. Qcharts has problems - this whole data supply industry has problems. When one considers the very large amount of money involved by customers to these data providers I am amazed there has not been some class action legal action taken against the industry in general. No matter what they put in their contracts, it is implied that they will supply you with correct, timly data - too many times they are not. Mark my work, it things don't start to get better soon, they may find themselves with some very serious legal action. The days of "growing pains" have been running for several years now and time is running short for them.

Having said all the above, let me say that I have not notice some of the problems others are having - probably because I do not use the program for what they do. The problems I have been having have been periods of time with not data received and then burst of data to catch up. This may - or may not - be Qcharts problems, one of the wonders of the computer age being that with so many different people and programs involved in what I finally see on my screen gives rise to the great phrase, "you may have a conflict or it may be ..." There is always someone to point the finger at and I have absolutely no way of knowing who is right or who is wrong.

Excerpt for Investor R/T, Qcharts is the best SOFTWARE charting and data program in the industry - their data, however, needs some serious work and no matter how you cut it, it is the data we are seeking, not how that data is cut and diced.
