Alan,

I'm assuming that they are correct when they continually insist that it is not an ISP problem. If I were out on the west coast, I would definitely have my setup (webramp with three modem). Even if ISDN were available cheap. The reason is that I could then route through three separate ISP's and I would research a little to make sure that I was getting different "backbones" of the net in doing so.

I wonder how much system redundancy these guys have built in? Backups are important as the best of these systems have their problems. One of the prices of working on the "cutting edge". I mean, if you think about it, this whole line of work (as cool as it is) was not even fathomable to the most technically astute 10 years ago. Pretty amazing business. I can't wait until we sit around at some daytrading expo some day and reflect on the "old days" when you had to have two of everything and bandwidth was the biggest problem we faced.

I routinely connect to Santa Clara server with no problems and sometimes to Mountainview (also CA). My best connections are from Jersey and SantaClara. Herndon (VA) is the slowest, I suspect that is because of the dominance of Sprint in that area's infrastructure.
