House on Wheels Debuts at NARUC Annual Convention 15 November 1999 - San Antonio, TEXAS - Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ: PLUG) unveiled its House on Wheels, a demonstration fuel cell powered home, for utility regulators last week. Plug Power's House on Wheels made its debut at the 111th annual convention of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) in San Antonio, Texas. The House on Wheels is a full-size recreational vehicle outfitted with a proton exchange membrane fuel-cell system. The fuel cell operates on natural gas and powers the RV's on-board electrical appliances, including stove, refrigerator, microwave oven, personal computer, television and VCR. Fuel cells are home energy machines that produce electricity through an electrochemical reaction. Plug Power will bring the House on Wheels on a tour across the United States during 2000, visiting schools, colleges and other community locations. Plug Power plans to sell fuel cell systems, through GE MicroGen and DTE Energy Technologies, beginning in 2001. The visit to NARUC's annual convention was an important starting place for the fuel cell demonstration. NARUC is a national association of government agencies regulating U.S. utilities and carriers. NARUC's annual convention is dealing with energy issues such as utility regulation, the environment and future markets. Based in Latham, New York, Plug Power is a leading designer and developer of on-site electricity generation systems utilizing proton exchange membrane fuel cells for residential applications.
