I thought this thread was about gorillas in the eworld, thus ecommerce. Teflon originally brought up some of these on the other thread but there wasn't a lot of response. It can get confusing I guess, but companies like Qualcomm and Gemstar are not in the ecommerce realm, and b2b, whereas ARBA is, for instance. Qualcomm and Gemstar for instance seem mainly b2c.

Guess we'd better get it straight--but that's what the header says

Cha2,

I think you're a little confused because we're talking about industries that aren't the focus of your study. Ariba and Commerce One compete primarily with each other. i2 competes primarily with Manugisitics. None of them compete primarily with Siebel. In my opinion, we're talking about three different gorilla games in progress at the same time.

As for which folder they should be discussed in, I'm not the one to ask about it. I'm not sure I've ever been entirely clear about the intended focus of either thread. I think that's subject to a little bit of interpretation. Besides, I don't think it's entirely reasonable to assume that it won't be appropriate to discuss them at least in certain limited contexts on both threads.

As alwasy, just my opinion.

After Q's run-up, I was wondering what the returns are on your Telecom Gorilla Game. You're moving my Front Office Game from the penthouse into the janitor's quarters in the rear of the parking garage. :)
