<<I hope we will use this opportunity to learn more about why certain people do these terrible things, and learn to predict and to predict their violence.>>

This idea frightens me, because it is literally the basis of thought police. And just like free speech, thought should never be a crime.

As for your 10% frontal lobe damage, I've heard similar statistics, but never seen a valid study. However, I did read a study that said 10% of the population are clinicly schizophrenic. The majority of these suffer from bipolar and other mania disorders, but only at a very mild level. That explains the Prozacing of America.

Have there been any mass shootings in Texas? I remember a guy who ambushed and killed several police officers about a month back, but nobody who has walked into an office or school and started shooting, at least not since Texas allowed all citizens over the age of 21 to carry concealed. My understanding from friends down there is that at least 1/3 of people are armed at any given time.

I would think that would make mass killings difficult. Statistically, by the time you got to your 3rd victim, somebody would be shooting back.

You make a good argument ...But I have one question..Why the increase in violence on a statistical level over the last forty or fifty years?.... Have the issues you mentioned changed over this time? If so why?
