Vod-Ati-Mannesmann

My prediction is Vod-Ati will come back with a higher offer and / or hostile bid and secure Mannesmann which Mannesmann will accept. Anything can be bought at the right price.

British Telecom seems to be interested in certain parts of Mannesmann only-unlikely to bid. SBC-is completing another major deal in the U.S. and MCIWorldCom is consumed with Sprint at the moment. Bell Atlantic will not place their U.S. agreement in harm's way they will not bid for Mannesmann. Further, Mannesmann means more to Vod-Ati than to any other suitor so they will be willing to pay to win.

Vod management is top notch. I have owned the equity since 1989 when it was Racal Telecom and their management is the best in the business. You can argue that Ati management was even better better you probably cannot argue that Vod-Ati management combined is by far the best management team in the cellular world. The Vod-Ati team has thought this through; a Mannesmann deal will add value even at 230-250 euros. Dave, nothing emotional about this decision. Let's secure Europe and kick some cellular butt!

Vod-Ati go for it!

An excellent and thoughtful analysis.Thank you for the post.

It seems to me that the question of cost will depend on the net cost to VOD. I presume that VOD would rid itself of Orange and the non-cellular Mannesmann holdings. Do you have any reading on what those properties might be worth?
