I'm still trying to locate a reference to Larry's comment. If anyone could find it (or tell me convincingly that I must have made it up) I would appreciate it. I actually went through my statements last night and found out (quite surprisingly) that most of my Oracle holdings date from early 1996 more than 3 3:2 splits ago. At today's price, a 2:1 would bring the price down to a similar level as the previous couple of 3:2 splits.

In the past, I had thought that Oracle's splits were partially intended to keep the stock "affordable" to the small investor (keep splitting in the $50s), in contrast to a > $100/share price for Microsoft. Perhaps now there is a perceived need to have a stock price more like a dot com...
