I'm sorry, I should have clarified. I was speaking to the general concept. As I said previously (check it out) they all kibbitz from each other's work. Success depends on other factors, IMO in addition to the actual technology. JLA

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but I find it ironic that Xerox was the largest company and biggest employer in Jack Kemp's congressional district when he was a congressman. His apparent ignorance of their ground breaking product ideas is puzzling indeed.

Actually Couch was the GM of the division, it was Wayne Rosing who did the R&D... wow! you're really good with this stuff though... Rosing was at Sun last I looked, probably retired now. I don't know what Couches background was.. you seem to, was it R&D? Because the logistics of building and shipping the Lisa were the real nail in its coffin. Maybe he never knew how to do that and underestimated the task?

I am about a hundred posts behind, so forgive me if the point has already been made, but under the circumstances, I thought it was real chutzpah for Apple to try to stop Microsoft from developing Windows, as I recall Apple claimed that Windows infringed on Apple's copyrights.

One question I have for you and Lizzie, anyone else if they know, was any of the work at Xeroc Parc funded by the federal government? I mean, like Arpanet, or whatever. Seems like I remember reading that it was. It would be ironic if the American taxpayer actually paid for the research, is why I am wondering . . . .
