I'd ask for the pricing and if the full rate were within my budget I'd go with it.

It is not clear to me that a Full Rate modem set for 1.5MB will be priced any different than a Lite modem running at the same speed.

The difference is, when I want to throw the switch from 1.5 to 4 or 8Mb/s I can do it. I will be ready to accept the highest bandwidth services the Telcos are ready to throw at me. From what I understand all I would need to do is phone the Telco and have them upgrade my service. It will all be done in software on the Telco end using their service management system.

I have already read the contents of the link you have posted and I am aware (no pun intended) of what is being pointed out. But for me most all of that Lite stuff is moot.

To say it another way, we are in a "selling of services war" and the advantage goes to he who can jam more things into the home as soon as possible. The "jamming into the home" has pricing already built into it... otherwise, it does not get jammed. Telcos just loose future time and money provisioning for the temporary Lite solution.
