The new reader is 40% cheaper:

"With the introduction of the DFR 300, Identix has achieved a 40-percent cost reduction since introducing its previous generation reader. The Motorola-Identix alliance drops the already reduced price point established in August 1998 when Identicator Technology, Inc., Identix's wholly owned subsidiary and IT Security Division, and Compaq introduced the first biometric readers for less than $99."

Whether that literally translates into a $60 price point or not will depend on the form factor, margins, etc., but it gives you a ballpark figure and assurance that IDX still has the lowest price for performance in the industry. Available December 1999, so we won't see revenues for a few months.

Volume shipments are expected in early December!

Straight from the press release! Early December isn't too far away! If we expect volume shipments, there must be some volume customers to be announced!

Here is the section of what is now called PR #3.

Identix expects the DFR 300 readers to ship bundled with Identix's proprietary BioLogon(TM) 2.0 software, which delivers the software precedent in speed, accuracy and flexibility in fingerprint security. The BioLogon 2.0 Suite provides a range of functionality and applications, including network logon; computer access and locking; e-mail and web site locking and unlocking; multi-layered security for use with smart cards and/or PINs, and storage of hundreds of application-sensitive passwords, enabled by fingerprint. (See BioLogon 2.0 related releases of Nov. 16.) Volume shipments are expected in early December.
