Paul, why is AMD's 7'th generation processor slower than Intel's 6'th generation processor ? SPEC is my personal favorite application. Ms. Pac-Man is a close second. Scumbria

The Athlon was supposed to destroy Intel's P6 generation processor and now it's the other way around. SGI demoed a 16 processor Itanium system while AMD still can't demo a 2 processor Athlon. Intel is making noises about extending the x86 to 64 bits and that will totally kill the K8 effort. This is a tough time for these guys and they need some time to digest all this. They'll need a couple a days to make up some new excuses.... EP
