I don't think Ireland as a country has anything to do with the abortion debate. Nor do I find Ireland a screwed up country because you don't want their newspapers commenting on the abortion debate. It was a medical story which has relevance to the viability debate.

LT, I respectfully disagree. The very fact that this was possible does give one pause when trying to balance rights in the abortion debate. That the story shared with us appeared in Irish publication and encourages people to think a bit about viability issues should not mean that the country is necessarily open to scorn.

You don't have to read the accompanying text to understand what the picture means. At 21 weeks we have a young human being with a nervous system. He or she can feel pain.

The real story is why is TV so afraid to show us reality.
