Oh come on. You should know that I was born in a home for unwed mothers, therefore I have thought about this more than most. One interesting tidbit that many don't know (my parents told me) is that adoptions in the past fell into two camps - the top and the bottom. So the adoptive parents knew they were likely to get a kid of exceptional ability or one below avg and not much in between. It contradicts the conventional wisdom that only lower classes had this problem in the 50s and 60s, fwiw.
