My right to free speech is inherent to all people and harms no one.

So stand up in the middle of a class and exercise your right of free speech by saying "I have a bomb in my knapsack and I'm going to explode it in fifteen seconds" and see whether that harms anyone.

Why do you think that the first thing done in a coup is to take over all the media outlets?

In the long run, free speech is far more harmful than any gun. In the short run, a gun is sometimes the only way to assure your continued right of free speech. Which is why they are both essential rights of a free people.

In your own mind, perhaps, but it is a hypocrisy nonetheless...

(and do pay attention to the words in red, please...)

<Your "right" to own a gun is not inherent and
is potentially very dangerous.
>

rather than bore the thread with repetition, here's a link to why I think I have a right to a gun. The key word in your statement is "potentially". The knives in my wife's cabinet are potential murder weapons, the fertilizer in my brother's barn are potential bombs, my pickup is a potential murder weapon, some people have hands that are potential weapons - - - - would you outlaw all of these due to their potential?

Click on this, read it all the way through, imagine for a brief moment that the woman is your Mother, then come back and tell us you wouldn't resort to a gun for help.

The Constitution states free speech should not be abridged, therefore free speech pre-exists the Constitution. The same with the right to keep and bear arms, "the right...shall not be infringed", therefore it pre-exists the Constitution. Happiness, as they say, "is a warm gun".<ggg> If somehow you do not interpret the Constitution as re-affirming an individual's right to own a gun then how do you propose he defend himself and his family in the course of everyday life? Perhaps, he has no "right" to defend himself? I guess by deduction, then, he would have a "right" to be a victim.

Akula, which situation is more dangerous to you?

A)A crook has a gun and you have a gun.

B)A crook has a gun and you don't.
