Greg: For those with suspicious minds or play with Dell options: I am getting a little tired of seeing Dell consistently close out options week on the downside. Being suspicious has prevented me from losing my shirt on this year by playing too many of those So I printed out the daily stock price from this site and compared opening prices for each day of an options week chart.yahoo.com What are the chances of Dell opening Friday higher than it did on Monday? 1 out of 11, and if you exclude Aug when we had a bit of runup to earnings then its zero. How about Tuesday? 2 out of 11, and if July (shareholders meeting)and Aug excluded, again its zero. For Friday itself- 6 times the closing price was lower than at the open, and 4 times it was higher. Conclusions: 1. Friday Dell will open < 40.875 2. The chance of it being $1+ higher during the day is 4/11 3. A person may consider buying puts on Tuesdays,since 8 of ten times the stock will be lower on Friday. 4. This kind of stock action is not a mere coincidence. And if Frank or myself ever catch the &*N$ &&&rds responsible we will turn them in to to the FEDS(G)
